She has a basic prosthetic, which her insurance provided, but has ambitions to be as athletic as she was prior to the accident and to be able to ride a motorcycle again. Won't you please help us give this fine young lady a chance at a better life and at the same time spend a day of riding and entertainment with your friends? Dallas International Motorcycle Show

Just got back from the 2009 Cycle World International Motorcycle Show in Dallas. This was the kickoff event for the 2009/2010 series and weather was beautiful, attendance looked great and a lot of new gear was on display. Here's a few highlights from the show floor...

Shoei Helmets
Shoei was showing off their new X-Twelve and XF-1100 helmets. The XF-1100 is the replacement for the XF-1000 and is a brand new new design aimed at the sport and/or touring rider. X-Twelve is for racing and offers all the protection and features the Big Boys have. Both of these helmets are made using five different shell sizes (like small, medium, large, etc.) to meet the new Snell M-2010 standard.

Shiny new Shoei helmetsThe Snell 2010 test is creating quite a stir for many manufacturers. The new test requires multiple shell sizes but many helmet makers only use two- or sometimes just one! Shoei and Arai have always used multiple shell sizes to make their helmets, which is just one reason they cost more. The Shoei rep told us each mold costs about $200,000. Now multiply that for five different sizes and you start to see why those no-name helmets are so cheap.
www.shoei-helmets.com

Cardo Scala Rider
We've reviewed the Cardo Q2 Bluetooth communicators here before. A new model called the G4 will hit the streets in about a month. This new version features a cleaner mounting system, simultaneous intercom between up to 4 people and extended range up to 1 mile. That range is accomplished by daisy-chaining from one unit to another. Sounds pretty trick.
www.cardowireless.com

Wunderlich
BMW gear from WunderlichBMW only shows up at a handful of the IMS series, unfortunately Dallas isn't one of them. But all us lonely Beemer riders found something to lust for at the Wunderlich truck. These folks make all sorts of expensive tidbits to tart up your BMW.

GS riders should consider their catalog required reading. Protection items are a big part of their inventory- but they also offer some cool dress-up parts too. Want to impress your friends? Pronounce Wunderlich in proper German: voonder- lish.

"You see things vacationing on a motorcycle in a way that is completely different from any other. In a car you're always in a compartment, and because you're used to it you don't realize that through that car window everything you see is just more TV. You're a passive observer and it is all moving by you boringly in a frame."
