Bikes on eBay: German Army BMW
The unusual, the noteworthy, the bizarre: motorcycle stuff we found on eBay
Lately a plague of Chinese motorcycles have swept eBay. Most of these are small displacement dirt bikes and scooters, but some are clones of World War Two-era German bikes. Just as the Russians copied the venerable boxers with their Ural, so have the Chinese. Many misleading auctions "suggest" these bikes are actually vintage German artifacts when in fact they're only a few weeks old.
So it's refreshing to stumble across this gem, which appears to be a genuine BMW hack from Germany. The seller claims it was abandoned in Austria and has less than 300 miles on it. It even includes the rider's original helmet!
"You see things vacationing on a motorcycle in a way that is completely different from any other.
In a car you're always in a compartment, and because you're used to it you don't realize that through
that car window everything you see is just more TV. You're a passive observer and it is all moving
by you boringly in a frame."
